Remarks of Senator Edmund S. Muskie, National Association of Environmental Professionals, Washington, DC.

We gather here and across our country this week to celebrate a seemingly simple, yet critically important social acknowledgment we made in 1970 - that the earth's recourses are finite and its ability to absorb abuse is limited. We recognized the limits in 1970 -- and our government responded with a decade's worth of laws. I would like to speak about those laws today.
