Abstract
This thesis explores the history of Chinese science fiction from the late Qing era to today before delving into the translation of a contemporary Chinese science fiction short story, “Scorching Sun, Blazing Star,” by Hao He. Following the translation excerpt is an analysis of Hao He’s story and a dissection of the translation and texts that inspired it.
