Abstract
Experiential environmental education can take place both within the confines of the classroom and beyond. This thesis looks at different types of experiences, whether they are close to or far from the daily classroom, and how this could impact the effectiveness of environmental education. Auburn Land Lab is used as a case study to see how a school may implement localized, place-based environmental education that takes place within school grounds. It also discusses the possible closure of the Auburn Land Lab, and why this center has proven to be an important resource for the local elementary school.
