Abstract
I have conducted my senior thesis on the issue of lead in paint and in water systems in Lewiston. This research has focused on the disproportionate impacts this issue has on the Somali immigrant community in Lewiston, and the downstream neurological impacts early childhood lead exposure has on development. I have obtained data regarding rates of lead in Lewiston public school water fountains, as well as lead found in biosolids in cities across Maine. I have been able to contact various community members including reporters, public health advocates, and more in order to inform my understanding of this pervasive issue.
