Abstract

The dynamics of a quantum dot laser (QDL) subject to both optical feedback and current modulation has been investigated experimentally. The control parameters include modulation amplitude, modulation frequency, polarization of the feedback beam, bias current and length of external cavity. Suppression of modulation dynamics subject to either isotropic and polarization-rotated optical feedback has been achieved. Complete suppression of feedback dynamics by polarization-rotated feedback is examined at certain modulation frequency range. Dominance of modulation dynamics at frequencies near feedback dynamics is studied. Strong coupling between the optical feedback and current modulation is observed throughout our investigation.
