Description

The syntheses of a cobalt(III) complexes containing N, N’-dibenzylthiourea, 1-methyl-3-(m-tolyl)thiourea, N-phenyl-N’-benzoylthiourea, N-phenyl-N’-4-methylbenzoylthiourea, and N-phenyl-N’-4-bromobenzoylthiourea have been accomplished by reaction of [(en)2Co(OSO2CF3)2](CF3SO3) with the thiourea ligands in tetramethylene sulfone. Coordination isomers were separated by ion exchange chromatography and the resulting complexes were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The ligands form a 4-membered chelate ring and are bonded through the thiourea sulfur and one of the urea nitrogens.
