Abstract
Today, Auburn, Maine faces an inflection point. For the past few years, a debate has been raging over the town’s agricultural zone. Should Auburn maintain its current path, one that has ensured that woodlands and farmland are protected from the pressures of development and sprawl? Or should it change the rules to try to encourage development in the way that so many other towns and cities across the country have already?
