About the Authors
Cassidy is a psychology major (class of 2025) with a keen interest in neuroscience and the biological aspects of psychology. Passionate about understanding mental illnesses and neurodegenerative disorders, Cassidy brings a scientific perspective to the exploration of movie soundtracks. When not delving into the complexities of the human brain, you can find Cassidy hanging with her cat, roller skates, or channeling creativity through sewing projects. James, member of the class of 2025 at Bates College, is the scriptwriter and podcast editor for this podcast. He is on a mission to conquer the frontiers of biomedical science. Majoring in biology with a minor in physics, he brings a sharp, analytical mind to the complex world of disease and treatment. Fueled by a profound research stint in Parkinson’s disease, James delves into the intricate dance of neuroscience within the brain. Off the lab bench, he channels his insights into crafting captivating podcast scripts, where he unravels the enigmatic effects of music on the brain. Through this podcast, James transforms cutting-edge scientific research into enthralling narratives, enlightening listeners with the fascinating interplay between melody and mind. In free time, James is playing piano, chess, basketball, and exploring the natural world. Ricky is in the class of 2026 at Bates College and a mathematics major. He enjoys music of all kinds and is particularly fascinated by how it emotionally enhances experiences in movies and video games. Ricky has a knack for simplifying complex concepts and brings a logic-driven perspective to the table. When he gets a break from solving math problems, Ricky enjoys drawing, taking long walks, and spending time around animals.
